The Challenge
"People are better at recognizing things than recalling them from memory. It’s much easier and faster to click on a link than to enter a search term: you don’t have to spontaneously come up with the proper search expression, or worry about synonyms and spelling."
From our analysis of user behavioural patterns, we found that a significant portion of users do not have an intention to find specific content. They come to the platform to look around and get inspired to study certain subjects or topics.
Through Browse, we offer an alternative way to find relevant content especially for users who do not:
1) have a clear idea on which search keyword to use, or
2) know exactly what they are looking for.

The Process
The Process
Students have multiple subjects at school at the same time. Everyday they face new concepts in new chapters or topics in their lessons. This makes it more difficult for them to memorise every single concept and search for them correctly using the search bar.
Starting with aligning on requirements with stakeholders, my co-designer and I opened up our problem space by looking at competitors' products and analysed the current content structure. We found that designing an intuitive Browsing experience is essentially the design of how the user navigate through the layers of content.
We looked at how the users currently organised their study materials as an introduction to their mental models. Gathering this information led us to explore multitudes of solutions and proposed an approach to content navigation.
As the solutions are rather complex, we conducted a usability test of two main concepts. We adapted the solutions according to the feedback and proposed testing packages to reduce the complexity of the first iteration. The testing in the live environment showed a promising result for us to iterate further.
